Children’s Catechism Set to Contemporary Music

As parents of two small children, we have noticed how quickly they absorb both music and facts.  Wouldn’t it be great, we have been thinking over the past year, if Biblical principles and Scripture memory were set to memorable music and published?  Good news:  our friend (and Perimeter Church worship leader) Eric Gilbert has just released a kid’s CD that captures the first 21 questions and answers from the children’s Catechism.

Entitled Who What Why How Where When, our 3 year old son already loves this CD that is reinforcing what he is also memorizing at home each night.  And it doesn’t get annoying to parents like some silly kids music does.

And, as an added bonus, it also includes vocals from other friends of ours and Eric’s: Perimeter worship leaders Laura Story and Aaron Shust.

  1. We just added an update to the post containing a link to a listening/sampling webpage.
Ken, it appears based on key points in the early points of the Shorter Westminster Catechism, plus #35 on sanctification.
For those unfamiliar with catechisms, they are concise doctrinal statements to help kids understand theology and have been used in protestant churches since the Reformation.
